Placing your bets on Mega Sena is just like playing the actual lottery, but instead of buying a ticket, you will be betting on the outcome of the lottery. Check out the FAQs below for more information about Mega Sena.
Mega Sena is the biggest lottery in Brazil which not only entertains players, but also raises funds for good causes. Draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday in Brasilia at 20:00 BRT (00:30 BST/GMT). Numbers are picked up in pairs from 2 cages, resulting in a two-digit number between 01 and 60. If the number 00 is drawn, it is replaced with the number 60.
This Brazilian lottery started back in March 1996, which means that it has been around for over 20 years!

This is a draw which is held every year on New Year’s Eve. Throughout the year, 5% of the proceeds from Mega Sena are put aside and contribute to the big jackpots. If nobody matches all 6 numbers, the jackpot is awarded to players who match 5 numbers.
That’s super simple! All you have to do is navigate to our Mega Sena page and select 6 numbers from 1-60. You can select the Quick Pick option to get a random selection of numbers and you can also subscribe to Mega Sena before you finalise your transaction.
The jackpot starts at R$2 million, which is approximately €365K, and there is no jackpot cap! If nobody wins the jackpot, it continues to roll over until someone wins.
Mega Sena offers 3 different prizes, and each one has a different way of being won. To win the Mega Sena jackpot, you will need to match all 6 main numbers. The value of each prize is dependent on ticket sales and the number of winners per prize tier. The Mega Sena prizes are defined below:
Match | Odds of Winning | Prize |
---|---|---|
6 numbers | 1:50,063,860 | Jackpot |
5 numbers | 1:154,518 | Tier 2 |
4 numbers | 1:2,332 | Tier 3 |
If there are multiple winners for any given prize tier in Mega Sena, the amount is split equally between the players.
The biggest jackpot was given out in a Mega da Virada draw on 31st December 2014. The amount was R$263.2 million, which amounts to approximately €48.1 million!
